I thought the hazard of dihydrogen monoxide *gas* (as generated by the combustion of hydrogen) is mainly a burn hazard.
Dihydrogen monoxide is a rather good solvent, though. It's surprising how well it cleans, particularly when mixed with other solvents. Its thermodynamic properties are interesting, too. In fact, there is some research about using dihydrogen monoxide (referred to as R718 in the HVAC/R industry) as a primary refrigerant in air conditioners. Many large A/C units already use dihydrogen monoxide as a secondary refrigerant and some residential units also use dihydrogen monoxide.
There are some who like to ban dihydrogen monoxide, but have they found a better alternative?
