My axim dosen't really fall short any any of my needs. I would say that it is as close to perfect as you can expect.

could it be possible to put a microdrive instead of a flash ROM drive? That would be so cool

Uh, no, it wouldn't.

What I'd like to see: FIX THE GODDAM BATTERY COVER LATCH!
Actually DEBUG the OS before installing it!

OK, b***hing aside, I'd like to see:

Jog wheel (or slider thing like on the X5), 802.11g, more RAM (128MB instead of 64MB), however in order to solve the power issue it would be as two semi-independent modules, so only one would be running most of the time, and then when some more is needed, it powers up the second module.
A bigger freaking battery! Another hour of runtime would only need to make the Axim about 1mm thicker!
A separate barrel connector for power, like on the X5. Having to use that adapter thing is soooo annoying.
Better paint, and better display-covering material.

Ok, there ya go.

As stated by psionandy

I too am for a jog wheel.

In fact if it had a jog wheel it was way better. And i think it's something that can be easily intergrated.

Sony Clie did it right, always the japanese thinking it out more. too bad they stopped production on the Sony Clie.

But camera and telephone are nice idea's also.

Ok, now since we have a lot of suggestions, how are we going to tell dell this info so they might be able to out it in the next models? I like the RAM idea from Gadgetnerd. Great thinking....

I'm pretty sure the next axim will be an UMPC. My only hope is that as technology progresses, we will have a choice of different UMPC form factors. Perhaps, we will get all the goodies of an UMPC in the form factor of a PPC.

Yeah I know about that thread. Now I will aks you some questions: Why does Dell needs to continue making new PDA whne the X51v is one of the best on the market? Why spend the money? Wait till the X51v shows its age and then release a new design. Also, mabye they know of a new types of hardware that will be avaible next year..

My Axim is already a UMPC with TCPMP! Maybe it doesn't run Windows or have alot of memory or storage or fast processor but it already does beyond what I expected it to do when I bought it.

I'm extremely happy with my axim also. I think it's truly remarkable that a device so small can do so much. But, we always want more :)

If the Q1, for example, is available in the form factor of the axim, I would certainly be wooed.

I'd be more interested in Dell doing a converged phone / PDA device than a UMPC initially ...

I'd just run away and cry in my little corner if Dell didn't release another dedicated PDA... or an ultratiny UMPC...
