as x-mas time approches i have startign thinking abvout what i want. basically i found THIS
vcard and it looks pretty good. what do you guys think? i want the highest powered graphics card possible for agp however it must be under $200, and must have at least 512mb of mem. does this card run hot? i read some peoples reviews on a few other rx1600 cards and they said that they die of heat alot, what that be a prob with this card? also are there any other cards that may be better? (for example a radeon x850?)
why would i need a freon cpu cooler? im happy with my cooler master hyper l3 and dual twin antec casefans they keep my smithfield 805 @ 97degrees farenhit idol 120 load..

How does -50C at high load sound? Do you want to make your Pentium D 805 perform as well as a Britney? Do you want to pipe the heat from your CPU to a "radiator" (condenser) in order to keep all your other hardware cooler? Most importantly, do you want to tell all of your friends that you're the first kid on the block to own a Freon-cooled PC?

nope, not really, like i said im happy with my hyper l3. plusi dont have toi worry about freon spills...
120F (49C) at load is not very impressive... And you don't need to worry about Freon spills, since it will evaporate in less than a second. (And did you know that many aerosol products, including cans of "compressed air" used to clean computers, contain Freon? Take one of your cans of "compressed air", turn it upside down, and press the button for a split second with it aimed away from you.)

If you're not ready to go that far, you could just buy a lot of Delta fans and start doing your "aerodynamics homework". Not as impressive but much easier and cheaper...

look star, i dont wanta freon cooler, besides, i dont even want to take the hyper l3 off, it took my a friggin hour to get it onn as i wasnt strong enough to push the 4 pins of the cooler down..
ok i have deiced that i am going wit the card, now my question is, is the power conenctor it uses standard? (for example could i just use the extra floppy fower conenctor on my psu ionstead of using the included adaptor?) if it is standard i plan to get a 6inch 4 pin (reguler size) to a 4 pin (floppy size) cable, then have it shrink wrapped. the reason is that my psu has all of the componte connectons (exept for mobo main and mobo +12) on lines and the floppy conenctor is at the bottom however the secound line is already taken up and i dont want to string the first line althe way accross my computer. so i figure i will get an extensison and just leave the 1st line where it is (hidden away in 5.5 drive bay) and string the extension cord fro mthe drive bay to the v card...
chris
EDIT: i tracked down the pin out of a flloppy conecto and zoomed in to the pic of the card where it has the power cable next to it and the pinouts *look* the same but i cant really tell very well as i cant see the orentation line very well...
Save your money and learn how to build a Freon CPU cooler. I can help you.
I thought that freon was hard to come by because freon will delete the ozone layer. Most manufactures are going to 134A. It is also against EPA regulations to release freon into the environment. A license is also needed to work with freon.

I needed a new agp card and this is the one I got 2-3 weeks ago. Around 95 uk pounds.
I don't have anything to compare it with, but it works fine with new games like Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter. With my previous card (fx5600 I think) I couldn't even start the game...
another thiung is, what about sensors? can you read temps? rpms?
i dont see an rpm wire in thw photo but please someone say thta you can mesure the fans rpms on it....

R134a (tetrafluoroethane) is what most people call "Freon" nowadays. It does not require a license (you can go to Wal-Mart and buy some) and is legal to release it into the atmosphere (it's legal to use aerosol products containing tetrafluoroethane!). Of course, most other "Freons" can only be purchased with a license and must be collected instead of being blown out. Of course, if you're looking for the best performance, use Puron (R410a). I have worked on an 8 way Britney that uses Puron and it's about 32 times as fast as a 3GHz P4. It has a lot of control circuits and valves (EEVs) to regulate the temperature. And it's mostly used for folding@home...

I know cooler is better, but that seems like it would risk brittling the metal and solder , not to mention ice crystal formation. I wonder if CPU's work well incased in a block of ice?
