Meanwhile, on ESPN radio w/Mike and Mike, they interviewed Donna Shalala, the Pres of U of Miami, and she said, "the buck stops with me." In the same conversation she said, and I paraphrase, "we went through the video of the on field fight frame by frame..."
Then some callers to the show pointed out that the previous day in her press conference she said she couldn't watch the video because she was at the game and saw the brawl live, and watching the video would upset her. Mike and Mike felt she had misrepresented herself at a minimum on their show, but stopped short of calling her a liar until they could talk to her again. They had an intern call the U and find out what happened. The U said she trusts her people and went with their judgement.
The problem is she said, "the buck stops with me." Yet she didn't see the video and misrepresented herself. And she only suspended some players for 1 game for removing their helmets and swinging them as weapons at guys on the ground. She further said that the U would not put up such behavior and spoke tough, yet the punishment was just light enough that the players would be back in time for the big game against Ga Tech.
