Of course it is MS's fault... not Apple's

Quote:
Apple blames Microsoft for virus-infected iPods
October 18, 2006 - 4:14PM

If you bought a video iPod after September 12, it could be infected with a malicious virus, but Apple says Microsoft is to blame.

"We recently discovered that a small number - fewer than 1 per cent - of the Video iPods available for purchase after September 12, 2006, left our contract manufacturer carrying the Windows RavMonE.exe virus," reads the statement.

The virus to which Apple's statement refers has been named by anti-virus vendors as "W32/RJump.worm", and affects only computers running the Windows operating system.

...
only way down in the story is:
Quote:
Interestingly, Apple has moved to blame Windows, rather than its own quality control procedures, as the cause of the issue.

Actually it's Xerox's fault for introducing the "mouse" in the first place.

...and my favourite Apple quote:-

"As you might imagine, we are upset at Windows for not being more hardy against such viruses, and even more upset with ourselves for not catching it."

This is typical Steve Jobs retoric - Apple are never responsible for anything it's always someone else's fault - someone has watched way too much Oprah

Thanks Mr MacHasNoCommandLine.

Credibility = 0.

Not really any point in addressing any of those individually as they really lack too much grounding in reality.

And actually, for those that bothered to read the article (and I'm guess there's at least 2 of us) Apple did not lay all the blame on Microsoft.

While this doesn't need to turn into an education on the English language (well, not yet anyway), the quote is as follows.

Quote:
Interestingly, Apple has moved to blame Windows, rather than its own quality control procedures, as the cause of the issue.

"As you might imagine, we are upset at Windows for not being more hardy against such viruses, and even more upset with ourselves for not catching it," Apple says
The first statement is a little sensationalist, if the quote is read properly Apple blame themselves more (meaning not less) than Microsoft.

Many of us are not big of facts or literal interpretation etc., but I'd recommend that you guys read the article in its entirety.

Quote:

The author states that Apple blames Microsoft, but not themsevles, however this is in direct contrast with the immediately following statement:
Quote:
"As you might imagine, we are upset at Windows for not being more hardy against such viruses, and even more upset with ourselves for not catching it," Apple says

I would have liked to have seen this whole announcement handled differently.

It would have been great if the smug, irritating tosser from the Mac vs. PC ads could have announced this I think ...

What the heck chris! I am no way "stuck up" I love the OS. Apple is creative in their designs. Every company has their problems! If you want to continue this on aim feel free to im me. WTF is the apple III?
