Belkin 3in1 Travel Charger safe to charge an Ipod?

Hello All,

This question goes out to all electrical engineers :)

Seriously.... quick question..... as you all may (or may not know), the Belkin 3 in 1 Travel Charger spits out roughly 5volts at 2amps (power required for an x51v). Has anyone tried charging your ipod or any other 5 volt usb device to the this Travel Charger? Will the 2amps pop any other 5 volt usb device? I know a typical USB port spits out 5volts at 500ma and I don't know how Amps effect/damage a device....

Any help/advice would be appreciated.

Regards to all

I charge my motorola razr with it all the time. car and ac adaptor. I've also charged my socket mobile power pack with the AC adaptor. (Socket Mobile adaptor puts out +/-5v @ max 1amp)

Hi coach_ng,

Thanks for sharing your experience. Glad to hear you haven't fried your Razr.

Anyone else out in Aximsite like to share their experience :)

I am no engineer, but considering that 2amps is 4x the power for a USB device, I would not reccommend it(But being so small it may have no effect?)

2amps out put doesn't mean it's putting out 2 amps. it will allow for upto a 2 amp draw.

Hi coach_ng

So.... is it true to say that if a charger is rated more than or equal to 500ma, it's safe for the USB device?

The only thing that can fry a device is if the Voltage is more the 5V?

Thanks in advance :)
