WinCE 2.0 autorun help needed
OK you software gurus, time to take a trip to the past and help me out with a problem (if you'd be so kind).
I have a Philips Nino 300 (MIPS R3000, WinCE 2.0) that I need to install a program on. The IRDA port is gone and I am sans-cradle, so normal methods of installation are out. I figure the CF autorun feature is the way to go, but I don't know where to go from there.
Do I label the folder 4000? 3000? R3000?
I need to install from a CAB file, how do I do that? Autorun only works for EXEs, right?
The program I’m installing is a file explorer, as CE 2.0 doesn't have its own.
Thanks!
PS: I know I could buy a new cradle, PDA, etc, but that’s not the point :)
CE 2.0 should have its own file explorer. Its not called file explorer though. Try my handheld pc on the desktop or my documents shortcut or something to get into it.
You can use activesync on windows to get the cab files from exes. Just look in c:/program files/activesync during or after installation from a win pc.
Get a card reader for cf and transfer the cab to it. Then install the cab.

No, I think you are thinking of 2.1--a very different OS. 2.0 definitely does NOT have any explorer that you can access out-of-the-box. There is no My Documents or anything. Trust me!
I know how to get the cab file, and I know how to put it on the card. The problem is installing it. What I meant about using a CAB file is that the autorun trick only works with EXEs (you take the program you want to run, rename it "autorun.exe" and place in the numbered folder). But, I don't have an EXE that I want to run; I have a CAB that I want to install!
It would seem that you could make a little EXE that simply launches the CAB, but I have no idea how to do that. I am quite familiar with the device on a surface level, but I know next to nothing about the actual inner-workings of the software behind it.

Cool! But wait, does this make an EXE to run on the desktop, or on the PDA? I need it to do the latter...
*EDIT*
I tried it; it's not what I need. InstallBuilder just makes an install wizard-type thing for the desktop. Thanks anyway!
Let me reiterate my needs: I take a CF card, insert it in the PDA, and in some way install a program (launch a CAB file) without the use of a file explorer.
I love how the start menu was set up back then, wish i could have it like that on new ppcs, only modernized. I hate how the start menu is at top, and doesnt cascade.
