Old versions of windows?

Does anybody know how I can get or purchase any of the old versions of Windows, either in a store or online? Like Win 98, Win 95 or even 3.1? Win XP is available at stores (Win Vista also, soon), Win 2000 is also available for purchase, like for businesses. The reason I ask is I wish to use some really old software that does not run on XP.

I posted the message in the Water Fountain because I did not know which Software boards to put it in.

Also, among these three, Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Windows Vista (beta or complete release), which one is better?

Better can mean many things. Windows vista is the lastest, but requires the most resources to run it.
2000 requires little resources and runs almost every program, but is going to become obsolete soon.
XP is in the middle.

There are many places to get old versions of windows, and since ms doesnt support them anymore, they may not be 100% legal, but it really doesnt matter if software is so old its worthless.

try ebay and make sure it's not an open box. it's crazy how old some of the stuff you can buy there.

I bought monkey island brand new in the box for scummvm last year.

Which really old software are you looking to run?

perhaps we can help you get it to run on Win XP

I know you can set some programs to run in a "windows 95" compatibility mode .

If you right click on a shortcut you can find this page under properties:

That does not help. It does not work, regardless.
