Well, my wife refers to it as my "mistress." So, she is to blame for assigning gender to it. Although, I typically use the U.S. Male voice in Mapopolis, which I refer to as "Marvin" because it reminds me a bit of the paranoid android. I do wish it had an English accent!
Mine's definitely female; I'm constantly holding her, pushing her buttons and poking her with a long, pointy object. Sometimes she gets temperamental and I can't turn her on when I need her.

My Ax is definitely female... same reasons as Kool breeze, but also because when I was on a long trip, and my Wife called, the "Boss" in iGuidance was telling me some long drawn out direction, just as she called... And it was the first time she heard it. Had to introduce her to my "girlfriend" over the phone!
Must be those who vote "Uhh, it's an inanimate object--you people are insane." dont have a voice nav system... either that or they just cant tell...
When I do ask my Ax "what can I say", she does get a little more bossy, also. (MS voice command....)
I believe mine is a gentleman... Axel doesn't always do what I tell him to, he's sometimes slow to start up and if I give him more than one instruction he locks up
:p
Well I don't have voice nav. but his name is Prince-Valium, so I guess that does it. Then again our female dog is named Loki. (After a ski hill, not the greek, or is it roman, god.)
