Many ways to look at this:
1: Most children are spoiled today. If he doesn't like something simple as this, DEAL WITH IT. If someone is playing rap extreamly loud in his car and I have to listen to it I deal with it! As much as I hate rap music.
2: All this stupid Political correctness is really annoying. Example: Happy holidays.
Another example: In my social Studies/History when my teacher tries to explain all the races/cultures of the United States he said he cant call it a Melting Pot anymore because it is not Politically correct its TOSSED SALAD.
I guess we can just say one bad apple can ruin the rest, right?
-Tacos!
Wait, are you serious about the "Tossed Salad" thing? If you all don't know why I find this funny please listen to Chris Rock talk about have the "Tossed Salad" guy come in to school to bring discipline.
And it's all because of computers and the Internet.
20 years ago ppl didn't always object to things because they might be the only one offended. Now you can go online and find others who are offended by the same thing(s). Which means you now have support. With that support you feel you can speak up.
Therefore, the solution is to rid ourselves of computers and the internet.

For a moment I thought you were serious.

Yeah, I heard that one too. The person who 'corrected' me is the same one who told me that "wheelchair bound" is no longer acceptable. The correct term is Wheelchair Free, because the wheelchair frees them to move around in the world.

My new favorite quote (attrributed to Mark Twain, although i haven't been able to confirm the attribution or the wording):
"Those who don't read the newspaper are uninformed.
Those who do read the newspaper are missinformed."
Seems like most people you talk to think like we are saying and they think most people need to get thicker skins so it makes you wonder how there is so much litigation over this stuff.
This is probably a bogus story written to get the dander up of the "I hate political correctness" crowd. And it is bad journalism.
Like other stories of its ilk, it mostly quotes only one source and is filled with innuendo.
The driver is quoted saying he was almost fired for wearing the hat. Get real. He was not almost fired. Someone made a complaint about something that was not illegal or against policy. There was no way was going to lose his job.
But a complaint could have been filed. Big deal. There are 300 million people in this country. There is a percentage of people who whine about everything. So what? Many complaints are filed and are tossed in the can, because they are not legitimate.
Policeman, teachers, public officials, those who work in the mining, forestry and oil industries routinely receive complaints. They deal with them. Its a part of the job.

But no the bus driver did not almost get fired.
it was being talked about on talk radio so I doubt it's a fake story.
why do you all ways talk about bad journalism when it comes to stuff you don't support but if it's something you do support then bad journalism isn't brought up? I think journalism today across the board is horrible

Probably not a fake story, but greatly exagerated I'm sure. Did the kid really complain or were the parents using the kid to express their own upset (or just to claim their 15 minutes)? Did the driver almost get fired, or did a supervisor say something that the driver blew out of proportion? Who knows? Not me.
Speaking of bad journalism, recently on the AOL Entertainment News page (yes, I know, not the place to go if you're looking for quality journalism) there was an "On this day in history" blurb. It showed a picture from "A Muppet Christmas Carol" with a caption that read
Quote:
"December 13, 1843, Charles Dicken's "A Christmas Carol,' later made famous by the Muppets, is published for the first time." emphasis added
I think this is the first instance of a book being read by the whole world over a 150 year period BEFORE actually becoming famous. All I can say is Thanks Muppets.

Personally I believe it was Mr Magoos Cartoon Broadway version that made A Christmas Carol famous...It's good to be back back back on broadway:)
I find the whole Santa thing rather offensive. Why just the other day at the mall there was a Santa who not once, not twice, but three times pointed at my lady friend and called her a name!
Ho! Ho! Ho!
;)

similar issues are happening in the UK with some people being told not to wear crucifixes etc. The last I heard they were proposing to re-name our blessed Christmas holidays to Winter holidays.
Personally I am sick of all this Pc crap. By imposing stupid grey policies they will actually further segregate our communities rather than bring them together. I feel like a foreigner in my own country.
It appears that we are also to be sued by our criminals for infringement of there human rights because they have to muck out their cells or if they haven't been given drugs or substitutes. Where are the victims rigthts ?
Sorry...rant over...back to topic...that santa thing is ridiculous.....that parent should get a clip round the ear....shame on them...l
