More PC freeware, "CleanUp"

While we are on the topic of freeware, for those looking for a temporary file clean-up program I have been using “CleanUp”. It has been working flawlessly and never deleted files I did not want it to. It runs for about 15 seconds and deletes megs of temp files. All you have to do is tolerate the toilet flushing sound. This program will ask if you want to restart the computer to remove the last of the temporary files so close any running programs.

“CleanUp” seams to do a little better job than “CClener”.

Thanks for the link. Just down loaded and ran Windows Cleaner - deleted almost 400 mb of crap!

Thanks SilentKnight.

Per the ClamWin site: “Please note that ClamWin Free Antivirus does not include an on-access real-time scanner. You need to manually scan a file in order to detect a virus or spyware”.

AVG is real time and I think Windows Defender is too and I’d be afraid of running too many real time antivirus programs. This may be a keeper.

Big Smile Glad you like it.

From my neighbor to the north, “Just down loaded and ran Windows Cleaner - deleted almost 400 mb of crap!”

Glad you like it. The program adds up the total amount of junk it deletes after sequential runs. You’ll have an equivalent of a new hard drive in no time!

Another good system cleaner that's free is CC Cleaner. I use it all the time. Inlcudes cleaning history, temp files, cookies etc. http://www.ccleaner.com/

AVG has saved me with its real time scanning, catching a virus from a site, before i switched to firefox. Now, i dont even have to worry about virues while browsing, but iim still running xp, so i still need avg.

I've been using AVG for years
It uses far less resources than Avast (tried that - dumped that! Slowed my computer right down and the updates were huge)
It gets viruses that Norton's has missed, even if it can't always heal them.
When I got RC1 for vista, it wasn't ready so I tried trend, which was a huge download in comparison.
I wont change again

IMO AVG is awesome, free and one of the best home solutions.

I do not use it though as I have access to some corporate stuff that is a bit better.

My wish is that Norton or someone else in the home market would learn to make a less bloated personal client. All the home user/personal ones I have used really slow down the machine they are on and just plain stink even when their corporate counterpart is awesome (trend officescan for example!)

AVG uses a lot less resources. Ive seen peoples pcs with antivirus software that is constanlty scanning or something, and it is using the resources (proc light stays on constanly)
I switched them to AVG, and the proc light is now off a lot more, and it runs faster.
AVG also runs fine on older oses/proc/ram/etc.

By keeping their program simple and functionable, AVG has one of the best!

Cool. On behalf of my "computer-fixer", thanks! I won't have to call him as often.

thanks all! I too thought AVG was not going to be free. I just upgraded from 7.1 to 7.5. Weird but yes it's still free yay

I use AVG, Avast and ZoneAlarm and am just trying Spware Blaster from Javacool - it's a blocker rather than a deleter but it gets good reviews; I have also heard that Comodo Anti-Virus and Firewall (both free) are very good - any thoughts on these?
