Legendary Singer James Brown Dies at 73

By GREG BLUESTEIN
Associated Press Writer

ATLANTA

James Brown, the dynamic, pompadoured "Godfather of Soul," whose rasping vocals and revolutionary rhythms made him a founder of rap, funk and disco as well, died early Monday, his agent said. He was 73.

Brown was hospitalized with pneumonia at Emory Crawford Long Hospital on Sunday and died around 1:45 a.m. Monday, said his agent, Frank Copsidas of Intrigue Music. Longtime friend Charles Bobbit was by his side, he said.

Not a Christmasy type of post, but he will be missed. He made a HUGE impact on the world with his music, performances and his flair.

He will be remembered for making a difference, which is all that anyone could really hope for

Don't even know who he is, really, but I'm sure many will miss him, and I extend my condolences to his family

A sad loss. Saw him three times although never at his real peak.

[1] Mr. Brown will be remembered for his musical flair by many.
[2] Mr. Brown will be remembered for spousal abuse my many.

Now perhaps he will be held accountable for Item #2 above. :hide:

For Item #1 a star.

Can't say that I was ever a huge fan of James Brown, but he obviously made his mark in the music industry. May he rest in peace.
