Icon14 Nice one Dell

Yesterday my x51v decided to go silent with no sound from the internal speaker.
A hard reset did not fix it so it must be a hardware fault.
I duly called the Dell support line.
They said to me a new unit would be delivered to my address the next day.
Wow! it actually happened too. Thanks Dell. Great service, just need to improve the English from you help desk and you would get 10/10 for service from me.

:) :) :) :approve:

Were you using headphones prior to this? Or did it just quit unexpectedly?

Who cares, if you scored yourself a new unit.

Cool Headphones

Yeah I was using headphones and Resco Radio but as I have most of the notifiaction taps etc on off I cannot be sure if this was the exact moment of failure.

Thanks for the new unit Dell. :)

Im suprised dell doesnt know that the headphones can "stick", meaning the axim still thinks there are headphones in, even though their isnt any. Its a hardware failure, so a hard reset wouldnt fix it, but too late now...

Aximsitex50icon Stuck

Dell did not ask that, however I thought of that myself and tried a few different sets of headphones and copious insertion an withdrawal cycles myself in case that was the problem. I guess it may still be stuck but I could not fix it and was not keen at all on applying anything to "free it up".
