Hey Grentz good to hear from you!
My wife also has a 30gb video and the sound on that one is just as bad. Maybe I should take my headphones to bestbuy and plug them in to everything.
I took a look at the creative labs vision:m That looks like an awesome product if it sounds good.
I know it's picky but both ipod's sounded like crap compared to my Ax. I'll have to keep researching.

Yep. I got an iPod and took it back less than a week later. First, I had to carry a second device around. Second, I didn't like the sound as well.

It's sure killer for large storage and good battery, though, plus the fact that it's the only thing out there that will play iTunes protected files.

So...is sub-par sound a big enough negative to balance out all of the positives of an iPod? That's what I'd like to know.

I'd like to see a reputable review/comparison, too. That would make things nice. Since I got the iPod (and returned it), I got a nice new pair of UE's that put my other phones to shame :).

I think a lot of it is prettiest wife syndrome.

Then there are the "anti-iPod" crowd who really know nothing about them. We have a bunch of them on here.

I'd love to see some analysis of the output of various devices. It's really surprising that nothing has been done recently.
