Windows Mobile 2003-Emulator Images

Just downloaded the new 2003 emulator image(s) from:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en

The page states that the requirements are:

Supported Operating Systems: Windows 2000, Windows XP
eMbedded Visual Tools 3.0 – 2002 Edition
PC with Pentium processor; Pentium 400 MHz or higher processor recommended
Windows 2000 operating system with Service Pack 2 (or later) or Windows XP (Home, Professional, or Server)
128 MB RAM (196 MB recommended)
Hard-disk space required: minimum installation - 360 MB; complete installation - 720 MB
CD-ROM drive compatible with multimedia PC specification
VGA or higher-resolution monitor required; Super VGA recommended
Microsoft mouse or compatible pointing device

I have 'eMbedded Visual Tools 3.0 – 2002 Edition' installed and running OK but when I try to install the 2003 images I'm informed that I dont have the SDK installed and installation stops.

Uhhhh......

I downloaded the SDK linked from this thread.
http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showt...5&pagenumber=7

I don't know if you use eVB or eVC. I installed it and then downloaded Embedded Visual C++ 4.0. It discovered my SDK without any problem, except that I had to download eVC4 SP1 and SP2 (otherwise it crashes).

I am (or am going to be) using eVB. When I installed Visual tools 3.0 I chose not to install the VC stuff as I can not program in VC.

There are no service packs for 3.0 or eVB.

I'm still a bit confised as the MS page in my previous post above only stated that Visual Tools 3.0 is required.

No matter, I suppose as 2002 is as near identical to 2003 for the sort of little apps I want to write, I just would have been nice to have a new shiny OS to try them on.;)

doesn't look like development with the embedded visual tools 3.0 is supported....need 4.0 with service pack 2 or visual studio .net 2003 as baseline.

from a posting on msdn...click on the "what's new for developers..." technical article.

Quote:
eMbedded Visual Tools 3.0—To target Pocket PC 2003 devices, this development environment will no longer be supported. If you need native code support, you need to use eMbedded Visual C++® 4.0 (with SP2), and for managed code (.NET) development you will need Visual Studio .NET 2003.
