I have never tried spam. After my father was discharged from the Navy in 1948, he told mother that spam was not to be served in this house ever. To this day I'm afraid to even talk about it.

When we moved across the country, we drove through the midwest. Believe it or not, there is actually a Spam Museum where Spam was invented. In Hormel, Illinois (or was it Indiana, those midwest states started to run together after a while).

Oh man ... we missed it! We just spent a month (in October) driving out to California and back. Didn't see it, though; maybe we didn't go quite far enough north. Hannibal MO. was about as far north as we got.

Yeah, unfortunately, we hit it late in the day after a full day of driving, so not stop at the museum (I am pretty sure it was in Indiana after all). BUt I did get a cool Spam mug at a rest stop. :)

I'm sorry folks but I can't agree with most of you. I think spam is quite simply one of the most disgusting things I have ever tasted, regardless of how it is prepared and served.

It quite rightly deserves it's place in television fokelore but, for me, that's where it should stay.
