Yea, it looks like its HPs answer to Dell, but as usual it costs more. Sure it has integrated bluetooth, but an extra $100? I want to support bluetooth, but everytime I try I come up burned. If this thing was $50 more, we'd have an Axim killer, but its too expensive for what you get IMO.

It is still too expensive. The price of the Axim advanced continues to fall and this will be the major selling point. However, the bluetooth does sound nice, except I don't have any devices that use it.

James, I'm a little shocked here. Being the astute PDA guy we all know you to be, bluetooth generally costs $100 more than the same unit without bluetooth. While you can buy some bluetooth CF cards for less than $100, the best are at $100 to $120, street price. But, built-in will use less power than a card and you won't fill up your CF slot with a card. So, $100 more is not a bad deal for someone who wants bluetooth.
Also, the 2200 has SDIO and is smaller/lighter than the Axim. If I was buying now, I'd take a long hard look at the 2200.

My complaining was more about the lack of good bluetooth devices. I cannot imagine spending even $50 on a bluetooth CF card or built in. I have a Dell Bluetooth card, but have NEVER been able to get ActiveSync to work. What he heck is bluetooth good for. I might take back my poor attitude after Mobile 2003 is in my hands, but for now.... :p

I will agree with that statement, but there really is no reason to get rid of an existing Axim because there really isn't enough difference between the two units. I would have rather seen built in WiFi than bluetooth.

I love my Ax, but the 2215 is a lot smaller and a lot faster. If I were buying today, it would be a close choice, but probably spring for the HP.

I order the x5 yesterday. Dell gave a estimated shipping date of 7/5. Today when I check the order statis the shipping date is now between 7/11 -7/15. The Hp 2215 is starting to look good. I could have one tomorrow.

Or you could wait a few months when HP lowers the price (either via rebates or through outright price reductions). I'm guessing we'll see these same devices for less than $300 (as Dell is doing now) at some point.

I'am starting to think that Dell will have to make upgrades to the axim and lower the price soon to compete with the 2215.

Don't count on it... There will be no new Axim for a while. Lower price maybe, but no new hardware...

At least Copaq is changing their ways to please their consumers by using
1. battery pack (those internal batteries made unit lighter but a nightmare when they go south)
2. having both SDIO CF & SD slots
= thus eliminating those HUGE sleeves for extra memory & batteries
Also they do make the largest & brightest screens on the market today
I'll prob get a discounted 1 or ebay 1 on of these days, cus size matters to me.......
Or when they come out with a built-in WiFi unit.

Used the iPaq 2215 today...
I went into CompUSA and there it was.
The first thing I noticed was that the stylus blows away the Axim's flat one. Later I had to use my Axim, and it was simply painful. The new iPaq's screen is much clearer, slightly brighter, and much better contrast. The Axim's whites are literally yellow in comparison. I couldn't believe the difference. The difference in size is incredible...the pictures you see online don't even come close. This PDA is super small, but due to the side grips, it's not hard to handle like the 1910. The new iPaq oozes quality, everything is sturdy and solid and feels just right. Despite the small battery, it outruns the Axim on battery life, just a tad. Due to the faster bus and the fact that it was running PPC2003, this thing was FAST. I mean SUPER fast. The buttons were incredible, the Dpad couldn't be more perfect in tactile feel, same with the buttons. Lastly, the speaker was amazingly loud and crisp (despite being on the back of the unit), and the mic was incredible.
I did have a few complaints, however. The 2215 has no record button, anywhere, and has no jog dial. Also, the buttons are raised, so you can't push them with the stylus (minor moan). And lastly, it takes twice the time to soft reset, as the Axim (due to the new OS).
So, it was nice knowing you all...this place has been awesome, but I'm moving over to iPaq land. Going back to my Axim was simply painful, after I set down that 2215. I love my Axim, but the new iPaq is THAT good. I'll wait until Dell announces the X3 and see if it's any better, but otherwise I'm selling my Axim next month.
If you're a die-hard Axim fanatic, do NOT check out the 2215...it will convert you. If you're looking for a better PDA though, definitely check it out. It's incredible. :)

Well when the axim hits ppc2003, im sure the battery life will blow it away..
The no jog dial is just rape for me.. I live off that dial with books etc..
I was considering a 2210 but the Axim is all I need for now.. Maybe a next gen dell will get me like a x7.. also I think the x3 will be a bit slower then the x5 so why would you move to that if your clearly lookign for something with more power?
Another thing is built in bluetooth, even though i can disable it.. I really have no use for it.. I wish it came w/o bluetooth and was 25-50 dollars cheaper then id be running to it maybe..
But man.. no jog dial blows :P
I did do comparisons with screens with a 1910 my axim and a 5450, and frankly the 5450 and my axim looked the same.. and hearing from many other posts on other sites I hear the 2210 is actually about the same as a 5450 and a bit worse then the 1910.. So to me itll be the same again..
Good Review but ill stay with my axim..
PS: 1 Less user on the forums = less lag to pez :P
