To make a long story short (yeah, right... like I ever do
that, huh?

)....
When the boy was home over Christmas break he asked me to add Post Alpha Bits cereal to the grocery list. Didn't find them, substituted some other sugar laden cardboard tasting breakfast treat and drove on.
But then every time I went to the grocery store I'd cruise the cereal aisle looking for those stupid Alpha Bits to no avail... not even a slot on the shelf for them.
At first I thought, "hmmm... truly the dumbing down of American children if you can't even find cereal the kids can use to learn to read" Then it started bugging me. I mean, I remember Alpha Bits back from when I was a little kid, you know?
This past Saturday after another fruitless effort at a different grocery store I decided to go online and wreak my vengeance on the hapless Post cereal company. Much to my surprise, I found out that they've been bought out by Kraftfood. Apparently, they've bought out a lot of other companies too:

Anyway, after I couldn't find Alpha Bits anywhere on their site, I e-mailed their customer relations department. Last night I actually got a response. They claim that because of poor consumer demand and low profits they simply don't make it anymore. Now I don't know if this is a myth or not but I've had some of my diabetic patients who swear by them because it's one of the few semi-sweet cereals they can eat without raising their blood sugar levels.
So this is my rant/public service announcement in case anyone was wondering where they went
