I can say that I am a valentine's day hero. Yesterday I stupidly told my girlfriend that I didn't have time to pick her up any thing for valentines day becuase I was working on my research report. I think she was alittle mad but I was not sure, but today I got her a dozen roses, a hand-written love letter, a box of chocolates and a beautiful card and it is in her bedroom at her house right now waiting for her. I think I have saved my life!!!! Tell about a time you messed up valntine's day and if you fixed it or not!

How do you "get" a hand written love letter? Don't you do it yourself?
Never mind, you are one smooth operator and have probably scored yourself a good few "brownie points".
I've been married for over 20 years, she's happy, I'm happy. "Happy Valentines Day"
does it for us.
As long as I have had a girlfriend/fiancé, I can honestly say that I have never messed up any of the big days such as birthdays, valentine's day, christmas, etc. I am what you would call a hopeless romantic.
I don't have a story for myself but for a pal of mine in London. He had one of those on again / off again relationships with a girl, they had broken up (always with him dumping her) like 5 times in 3 years or something. So they're back together and he takes her out to a very, very nice Chinese restaurant, consumes ridiculous amounts of wine, and proceeds to tell her that he absolutely cannot think of why he ever got back together with her and really cannot think of anything he likes about here and so on and so forth. Earlier that night he had been ribbing me and another buddy about our lack of romance (no current girlfriends) and the fact we'd be in the local pub shooting pool on V-Day. Needless to say, we got a big kick out of him joining us for pool and telling his romantic dinner story ....
All in all, you probably got some points for being "spontaneous"...

I forget the exact circumstances surrounding the day but at the time, I had a real high maintenance girlfriend and not showing up with flowers just wouldn't have done. All the grocery stores in the area were sold out of anything good and all the florist were closed by this time. I called everywhere and finally found a guy who had just come into the shop to get something. He made me an arrangement and opened up just for me. Even gave me a good price. The day was saved and the girlfriend was very happy. Thankfully, she is now long gone and I have moved onto much better things. Some girls are just too much work.

Lucked out this year. We're not the romantic type, so my wife actually meant it the other day when she asked if it was okay not to get each other cards. And she didn't get upset when my response was, "It's okay as long as we don't agree to it and then one of us goes ahead and gets one anyway". Been married 12 years, not too many years ago either quesion would've caused an incident. (WARNING guys: Do *NOT* try this at home! Otherwise, you will painfully learn that you forget/miss one and only one time...)
Kind of cold here, not been feeling too well and the restaurants here are always packed on Valentines Day. But we did get in to a local place we liked. We sat around talking about old friends and their goofy boy- & girl-friends stories. Lots of laughs. For us, it worked.
I spent yesterday cleaning up dog crap. Evidently we stayed at work a little too late and the dog couldn't hold it anymore so she went in the basement. It was possibly the most disgusting thing I've ever seen. Oh, I smashed my pinky and I think I may have burnt the backs of my hands a little bit.
