this is so stupid. people are such panses these days. if you watch the video it says that the "pellet" which was made out of plastic, left a welt on a kids chest after he was shot with it, A WELT NOT A HOLE, a SMALL WELT!!!!!!!
and you know, this all stems off the belif that guns equals violence, which is COMPLETLY FALSE.
I can understand kicking him out of school for a bit cause that's just stupid, knowing everything these days, but jeez.

Here's a link that shows a pic/video of the "deadly" device. Oh, puleeez.
We did stuff like that all the time in gradeschool, and if we got caught the teacher would discipline us and probably call our parents who'd more than likely discipline further. Of course we generally respected (and sometimes feared) our teachers back then. Nowadays my kid can't point his fingers and make a bang-bang sound because its against the school rules.

11 Year Old Boy Jailed for Shooting a Deadly Missile (aka: slingshot).
An 11 year old boy in Florida spent 72 hours in jail and was charged as a felon after shooting a pellet from a slingshot made of a balloon, a bottle top and some rubber bands. Principal Mike Herring wants him expelled.
An 11 year old, charged as a FELON? An 11 year old spent 72 HOURS IN JAIL?
A crime, Yes, Charged with a crime, Perhaps. Expelled, over-reaction. A felon? Oh, c'mon!

An 11 year old aimed a projectile at another child which hit hard enough to leave a welt presumably through clothing. In other words, it easily could have permanently damaged the victim's eyesight. I'll pass on "deadly weapon", but it does technically qualify as felony assault and battery. An 11 year old should know better, but apparently the Shariff's office doesn't have better sense than the kid..

This 'accident' recently happened in the UK.. Just because we used to do things doesn't make them right.
hmmm... Lake county's Sheriff died last year in a bus-racing incident. Apparently, he wasn't strapped in. They use woefully insufficient lap belts, not a five-point racing harness. Maybe the new Sheriff is trying to erase the apparent "hick" past by adhering strictly to the rules...
