Interesting. I'm sure the person who gets behind the wheel after a night of drinking never intends to hurt anyone. He was only driving because he wanted to get home. When you engage in inherently dangers activity, the outcome may not be as intended. Murphy's Law is a son-on-a-b!tch...

like most things. 'what could possibly go wrong?' and would it be worth it?

When I was in Berkeley, there was a sixteen year old kid who held up at gunpoint a college student and his girlfriend. The girl handed over her purse and the guy was just about to pull out his wallet when the kid freaked out and shot the college student twice and killed him. They finally caught the kid in question a year or two later.

So when you talk about robbers only wanting to rob....

If you bring a gun into the situation, all variables are off. Those people who thought he should have "disarmed" him simply don't know how hard that really is. The fact that the man died of asphyxiation tells me that the robber was still flailing trying to beat up the senior citizen!

I don't know if this guy's a hero, but he made the best of a difficult situation. Especially, when it was 3 on 1.
