i had to telnet into one of my servers just now. i am on my vista box and so i opened the start menu then accessories expecting to find the command prompt. nope, so i did a search and finally found it. i typed "telnet ****" and it printed an error saying that it couldn't find "telnet" i though maybe i did something wrong so i typed again "telnet ****" still nothing. how stupid. i guess now i have to go find putty in my installer repository. you would think that in the "next gen" os ms would have included a simple telnet client.

Reality is like Grentz said - most if not all normal users have absolutely no use for Telnet. Let's be perfectly honest here, as a power user you shouldn't be using it either for anything short of testing the protocol stack.
You know as well as anybody else here ABF - ssh :)

the reason im usign telnet and not ssh is that my network is secure enough to use telnet. ssh takes too long to set up and it really only gives you the benifit of security. telnet is fine for my needs...
