Do Not Order Online!!!

I just called Dell today to see what the hold up was on my order from last Friday. They informed me that for some reason orders placed online are taking up to 1 to 2 weeks longer then orders placed over the phone:exc: I ordered my first advanced Axim in March over the phone and it only took 4 days to be waiting for me at the UPS pick-up place, and this was with the normal shipping method. I ordered my second Axim on the 20th and it will not be here until July 4th, and this is with next day shipping. So I will have waited 2 weeks for my Ax when it could have been a couple of days to a week if I would have just picked up the phone. Life Stinks (I want my Ax).

Man, that is a bummer. (I wonder if it will be delivered on the 4th since it is a US holiday)

UPS doesn't deliver on Sat or Sun...the 4th would be out of the question! I'd be surprised if they deliver anything on the 5th (Sat...LOL)! As you can probably tell, I don't like UPS too much. I always choose another shipper when I can.

um, thats simply not true. Well i certainly believed they told you that, but they dont take that long. My axim shipped 2 days after i ordered it. Now as you may guess, its impossible for 2 days to be 1-2 weeks after anything. I got it at my door on the 4th day. A few other parts took a couple extra days to get here. REgular shipping on all of course.

Oh well, in some cases it may be, but in general their online service is good.

They had the online vs phone order delay as well when the Axim was first introduced. Dell never fixed that problem?

I say if you ordered online, call and ask about it before you notice the delay. :)

Funny thing was that I talked to a Dell rep on the phone before ordering. Wanted to use a couple online coupons.

Should have just ordered on the phone.

I also ordered a monitor and a printer from them and the monitor was supposed to ship same or next day but has July 7th as the ship date as well.

I ordered 2 Axim's. One online and one by phone all within 24 hours. The one online was ordered first. I got the one ordered by phone 2 weeks earlier the the one ordered online. Kinda suxed because that one was for my wife and I had to watch her use hers for 2 weeks before I got mine.

The reason for your delay on the Axim is probably the release of windows mobile 2003. Many other people's Axims have been shipping on this same date.

Dell claimed that the same delay existed in both online and phone orders. A guy from Brighthand is claiming that Dell was backlogged and finally got it's WM2k3 shipments in.

My order is on the boxing phase, so maybe it'll ship today or tomorrow. I'll probably get it early next week.

I am having to wait also, but what really makes me mad is that I have been checking on my order for the past week. Today I tried to check and it said that no orders we attached to my profile. When I did a search on the order number it says that it is attached to another member profile and I can't view it. I called Dell today and they were trying to tell me to contact Airborne because it was already shipped. And the order number they gave me was for an accessory that I got last week! When I finally called the order hotline is says its still in the build stage and will be shipped on the 7th. It sounds like they have no clue what is going on. I am half tempted to just cancel my order but I really want to get one!

Hello everyone, I ordered my Axim X5 Advanced on the 25th of June, did so on the phone, they told me there would be a small delay due to some back order of parts(?), and that it would not be shipped until the 9th of July. Well I was certainly pleased when I checked today, 7/2/03, to find out it was at FedEx, and I should be receiving it in up to five business days. It will actually arrive before the projected ship date. No complaints here at all, So will see, and keep you posted, but as other individuals have said, why such the big difference between phone and on line. Realize that the online orders might need to be checked for accuracy but it shouldn't take that long! ( Used to have to do that for a living ), will keep you posted as to the day that it arrives. :)
