Mad Axim 51v STOLEN! Check this out...

Yup, it happened. Had my Axim maybe three months and it got stolen last week. I left it in the cupholder in my car (I know, bonehead move) and someone broke my window and grabbed it. I live in a decent neighborhood and didn't think there was a huge issue with crime. But goes to show that you can't leave anything in your car. I suspect that they walked up to my car with a flashlight and saw it. They didn't even open the door, as all the shattered glass was still in the car and would have falled out if they did open the door. They passed up my nice watch and MP3 player. Must have been a Palm user who wanted to upgrade :)

Anyways, what pisses me off the most is that I bought it under Dell's 6 months no interest plan. I still have 3 months left...ARGH! I am lost without my PDA, so I will probably buy another one. Does anyone know if I can transfer my extended warranty from the old Axim to a new one? Also, I tried calling Dell customer service to report it stolen, but haven't gotten through to anyone as the phone menus are like a maze.

Any advice?

Also, I came across a website called StuffBak which is a service to help you get your lost/stolen items back. They basically give you a decal you put on your PDA, cell phone, keys, etc. That decal has an ID# and a phone number to call. Now, obviously no thief will call it, but I was thinking that if you put it on the inside of the battery cover, if it gets pawned or sold, there is a chance...just thought I would share - appears pretty cheap too!

There's nothing like having something stolen to give you that warm-and-fuzzy feeling about things is there? That's too bad.

I have a GPS tracker in my laptop, I should mod one into the Axim. :p

...I don't know what to say. My condolences. Hopefully, the perpetrator will get his/her due sooner or later.

You can bet that all hell's gonna break loose if some taffer filches MY X50v...I don't think I'd ever get another opportunity to own a pocket computer of this caliber!

I feel your pain...I had my pda jacked maybe 5 years ago from my locker in the Emergency Department where I worked. Funny thing is...a month later, a local police department picked up the thief and the pda had just enough juice to display the owner info screen...I got my pda back so don't give up hope.

I concur. Sorry for your lost. I wouldn't know what I would replace it with other than go on eBay to find one again.

I got stuffback for free when I bought my Rhinoskin case. I have never had to use it but it seems like a great service.

What goes around, comes around.

Let's hope the culprit gets busted BIG time. Not just the PDA but add the expense & time at the auto glass shop.

In a nice neighborhood I used to leave my autos unlocked.
One morning I found my glove box open, light on. Now, locked up tight every night!
