Xbox Vs. PPC
Little problem here for me. Every month I have money to spend, and every month I usually get or think about getting some Xbox games. Now with the impending delivery of my Axim I have noticed a lot of cool games that you can get for the PPC I don't know if I should buy Xbox games or get some PPC games because I can take them with me. Now don't get me wrong I will always buy Xbox games because it is the best system ever invented, but with the money I have now I don't know if the PPC games are worth $15 and up. Please advise me on what I should do. Thanks for the help. Ben. :)

Booooo@ xbox.
Anyway, get a few ppc games at least. You can get some excellent ones (snails for one) for 10 dollars, though most are 30.
Definitely get at least a few, there are a LOT of high-quality ppc games.

Ben - Most of the games on handango and I'm sure there are some on other sites have trial versions of the game that range from 3 minute to 30 day trials. Try downloading some of those and see if you actually like them first. That is higly recommended after I dropped $20 on Lemonade Tychoon and got bored with it after like 4 hours of play. Anyway, try them out for yourself. Also look into emulators and roms, they are also fun... Hope this helps.

I agree with cartvader1, download some trials/demos to see how much you like the game, and If you like it, buy it. Also, READ REVIEWS!!!!! I have seen many reviews for Lemonade Tycoon that say it gets boring after like 30mins of play (No offense cartvader1).

I agree with CV and gcguy as well....there are some great PPC games out there but you just have to be picky.
To be perfectly honest with you, I've found that the neat little mind games tend to be the best way to go on this thing. The controls aren't the greatest for high speed gaming (let's not kid ourselves here) but the display is absolutely beautiful....perfect for really eye pleasing bright colors. Looking at the list of games I've currently got on my Ax, Diamond Mine and Bubbles are the one's I play the most.
Like anything else out there....some games are worth the price, others aren't worth squat.

Gonna go against the grain here, but buy xbox games
If I want to play emulators I'll use my pc or my naughty xbox ;) and for games I'll use my xbox or for portable gaming, a gameboy advance.
However, it is horses for courses, so as suggested download some demos and see what there are like before parting with your hard earned folding.

I know your not a PS2 fan are you.. Yes Xbox is the greatest system yet. True they may not have as many games as PS2, but put both systems head to head with the same game and you will see the difference in the graphics is outstanding. Try splinter cell for example.. Then question if Xbox is the best.
Ben.

PS2 fan!?! :crooked: ack!! even worse. i've got plenty of outdated electronics at home, i don't need another.
i'm a true hardcore gamer, so of course all i need is my Gamecube and my PC. and i could live without the Gamecube, but i'd miss it alot.
oh yeah, try splinter cell on a PC, then question which is the best.
when you game on a PC, no other system can impress you when it comes to power and "graphics" except a more powerful PC. consoles aren't even in the game.

I would have agreed with you about a half year ago or so. That was until I heard that there was going to be a release of Doom III and Half-Life 2 on the xbox. Now I have heard that Doom III makes a Radeon 9700 cry... that and the games requires DX9... so it is going to be cheeper to get an xbox + the game rather than getting a computer that will actually run the game and the game.
I think that consoles have a lot of potential and they also have their market. I own both a PC and an Xbox and I couldn't say which one I like to game on more. I think both have their strengths and their weaknesses.
Just my $.02

i never said anything about the potential to run quality games or the price of either a PC or a console. i like to game on both a PC and a console. but the fact remains that PCs are just the dominant when it comes to power. unfortunately, they have to run windows and do other things besides games. if you were to take the most powerful PC on the market today and put a proprietary gaming OS on it, it would kick the tar outta any console. come to think of it, i guess it would sort of be a console then wouldn't it.

The reason why the two games you mentioned works on an xbox is beacause the graphics settings are set lower than on a PC by default, especially resolution. The xbox does NOT support DX9 and therefore every graphics effect that requires it will not be in the xbox version. The reason Doom III puts such a strain on a Radeon 9700 is because you can crank up the graphics settings to insane levels designed for computers than almost noone has. If you were to use the same graphics settings as in the xbox version it would ru just fine on a GForce 2. But in the end it all depends on how much graphics means to you. Just don't believe that you will get the same fantastic graphics on your x-box as on the PC. The graphics on the PS2 on the other hand is hoplessly outdated any way you look at it.
As for the original question: Get the PPC. You already have the best stationary gaming devise (the PC). The PPC has great games and also programs for your every need. You also get an MP3-player, a movie-player (with a fair-sized CF-card) and somewhere to store pictures. For what it does it's cheap!

graphics mean nothing as far as "best system ever" goes. The quality of a system depends on the amount and quality of its games. The snes is ones of the best ever and noone who was playing games in its time period can deny that.... but of course every system since has topped its graphics.
Maybey you meant "has the best graphics yet". Of course in another year or two when a new system comes out...
