Hey guys, I have a website and would like to know your guys' objective opinions.
This site contains a forum ranging from fashion to programming to discussing issues like theology and politics.
I'm currently trying to build a user base and, before I go too public would like as many of you to join as can and tell me what you think.
If you have any opinions then either post them here or send me a PM on my site.
Get rid of the tables,
move to style sheets,
create a real navigation bar without the nasty clashing between that burnt orange & blue hyperlinks,
change the rollover states to eliminate the blue + underlining,
unify your color scheme so the site matches the forum or vice versa,
the search function is to slow to load, speed it up or eliminate it

I'm not much of a graphic design person so... you know.
I don't know of a way to do what I want with style sheets (how can you do that without using absolute positioning?)
I do have plans to unify the look, and make everything themeable (if that's a word), but due to other projects I've been unable to do that yet.
Which search function are you referring to? Is it the web search using Google or the forum search?
What color should the hyperlinks be? And what would you recommend for a "real" menu bar?
With the question of it looking more web 2.0ish, do you guys know of an easy way to implement ajax into an asp .net application, using, like custom controls? Or do I have to make these myself?
Thank you guys a lot.

I don't believe in atheists therefore atheists don't exist.
I find that hard to read also, look here for a good site with contrast problems Technology at Play . They've got a good site with great info, a little too much advertising, and it is really hard to read? Don't make the same mistake.
Ok, I just got a bright idea, and I wanted to see what you guys thought.
What if I made my site "open source"? Has anyone done this, does it work? Why couldn't I put my site onto sourceforge or something like that and let the whole community work on it? Am I just blowing my top?
Thanks, I looked at your style sheet but I don't get why tables are bad? If it renders how I want it, why should I change it into css?

Umm that might be awesome but I suspect some idiot is going to try something "unfavorable" though I could be wrong.
As for my thoughs on the site:
I haven't made a site since 2001 but If I had any tip, it is to change the blue font on the home page to white or a bright orange, just so it is easier to see.
I'd say add a bunch of other stuff but your site opens at the mach speed of Google I'd hate to slow it down.
The opening page is little dry, however its a forum. I think the most important thing is getting users to it. i joined and will participate if the topics are good. Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I like it very much. I´d like to learn to make a webpage 2.0ish (I have only done a webpage about 5 years ago and using dreamweaver!)
Any ideas?
Ok, about your webpage. Change the blue font. The forums section seems quite nice. Id change the Forums Topics (Programmers section, Reviews) titles because they get lost with the other sections. Maybe center the text or change the colour. But I really like the looks of the forums section... Nice job!
