What is America's Greatest Status Symbol?

A good paying job? A high wage? A nice car? A big house? A trophy wife? A green weed free lawn?

What is America's Greatest Status Symbol? I post the answer sometime next week.

Fast answer, couldn't agree more. Perhaps that's why the USA is global. :hide:

I don't know, what is the great status symbol you speak of? Is it SUVs like your idol, Rush Limbaugh says?. You should reference your souces. Try starting a thread with your own thoughts. Or better yet, just join in a thread with your own, original thoughts. Remember this if you don't know the answer:

WWLD

That's right my friend, WHAT WOULD LIMBAUGH DO? When you don't know the answer to a question, look at your wrist!

It's usually defined by what the average person doesn't have.

LOL gadgets is out (I own many :p)
Clothes? ehh, I have them too.
Bling is, not if it turns green.

I say the car is, you can tell a person's status by what they drive. Heh I hide mine with a 98' BMW 850, I'm such a poser.

First of all, the question is vague. Are you asking what proves one American's status is better than another? Are you asking what proves America's status over other countries? Or one American's over one non-American?
Not to mention it would be very subjective. One person may think he or she is better than I because he or she has a Bentley and a huge estate, while I may think I'm better than that person because I have a family... It's a question that doesn't really have much of an answer, no matter how many you try to throw at it.

edit
I use the term "better than" kinda loosely in there, so don't take any offense to it or anything.

No clue... I guess I'll go for the Hoggie3's answer...

offtopic:
btw, I always wondered why you call your country America. America is the name of the continent, you know...
The country's name, if it can be called a name, is United States of America.

Clearly, the correct answer is male pattern baldness.

Way to vague a question. Not sure what JMJ means by "greatest." In terms of how Americans define themselves amongst each other, I think the most universal status symbol is their Home.

Actually, the continent is North America not America. (South America is a seperate and distinct continent.) The name "America" by itself doesn't identify any specific geographic or political boundries.
