I ordered an extra cradle for my Axim so I could use one at home and work. As you know the cradle cost $39 which is $20 more than just the AC adapter cable. When I received my original Dell product it came with the cradle and the AC adapter cable. I had thought the power cord came with the cradle. When I read the description of the cradle it says and I quote "The AXIM Cradle recharges your handheld quickly and easily. Use it in your home or office to keep your handheld in sync with your computer. " I did not get an AC adapter cable with it which I thought I would based on the product's description. It now appears that I need to spend another $19 to buy the AC adapter. I tried calling Dell but I was on hold for 45 minutes and I was at work so I had to go. I still have not been able to contact them. Does anyone know if it should have come with the AC adapter or do you agree that the product description should be updated stating that you need to buy one in addition to the cradle. Please let me know.

I agree that the cradle should have come with an AC adapter - especially since the add says it will charge the unit.

mjmawk,

The cradel does not come with an AC adapter. I found this out when my father ordered the cradle by itself. You will need to order an AC adapter. And yes the description needs to be updated.

You will need part # 310-2944. It is 2 weeks backordered right now.

regards

At least I wasn't the only one that got screwed. They really should change their product description. It's like an add for a car that says "you drive home and you can drive to work". Then after you get it you find out that it doesn't come with a motor.

Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.

I'm not going to buy something from Dell again unless I talk to someone. Even that doesn't guarantee anything but it is better than relying on what they "say" about their products.

PS: I love the Dell Axim, but I hating getting jipped.

How about an after-market AC adapter? I think its fairly standard AC cable. You may be able to pick one up cheaper (and faster) at you local Huge-Overpriced-Electronic-Retail-Giant (i.e. Best Buy, ComputerWorld, etc.)

Good Luck

I have seen message from someone who tested the Axim and its power adapter, saying that any power supply with voltage in range 5.4-5.8V (5.6V being ideal) and at least 700 mA would do the job.

But before trying it, I would backup all my data. :)

Same thing happened to me and I called and demanded the power adapter. They sent it to me for free. I had even called before I ordered it and the guy on the phone told me that the Cradle did charge it without the power adapter because it used power from USB. He was obviously wrong.
