You can use Internet Connection Sharing. Once you set it set up, look at the WiFi with Dial-up WinXP on this page for some info on setting up the router. Even though it's described for XP, I think it will be appropriate for 98, too but I'm afraid this section is still a work in progress so let me know what parts are unclear.

ICS is probably your best bet to share internet. You can install it using Windows 98 - it's a little tricky. What you will need is a network card in each computer and a cable to connect them directly or connect them to a router.

Installing ICS isn't as easy as setting up ICS in XP - but it's doable.

Good luck

You put network cards in both PC's and plug those into the router. You don't have to plug anything else in.

Since you don't hsve a WAN (broadband) you will not use the the Wan port. You basicaly use the router as switch. Connecting two computers. One computer will be the gateway and the other will share the connections. Using W98 this will be tricky set-up. But if you are using both computers seperately from the dail-up account you may want to connect directly to use the internet. Meaning if you are at computer 1 then dail-in. Then later if you are at computer 2 dail in after computer 1 is off line. use the switch to transfer file to either computers.

Windows 98 is your best bet with those system specs.

You don't need a cable DSL/Router using 2 windows 98 and dialup - in fact, it would be a waste of money if you did.

just get a crossover cable and connect both computers directly using a crossover cable. The crossover cable connects to network cards - if you don't have network cards, install them first.

Then setup ICS on the computer with the modem as the server.

This is your cheapest alternative and pretty much your best alternative with Dialup. I used to recommened a product called Webramp to my clients - but they are no longer in business last I checked.

Good luck
