I've decided that after 253 posts, it's time to get myself an avatar. Now my question is this: is it legal to find an image from the Internet and use that? I'm just wondering how you figure out if there is copyright protection on it?
The surest way is to create it yourself or use a picture you took yourself.

Because some people believe that "freedom of speech" applies to everything in life and don't realize that a forum is owned by someone who has the right to determine what is appropriate on that forum and what is not. It's not censorship, it's as it should be.
You can't say whatever you want when you want in MOST places in this society, nor should you be able to. And the people footing the bills should definitely be the ones making the rules.
People don't know what censorship really is. It's probably the most mis-applied and overused word on the internet.
