Question Getting started with eBC3

I have just started using eVB3 for my new axim and have run into difficulty getting my first programme to run on the pocket PC. It will run okay on the desktop emulator but on trying to get it running on the axim I get the following message
The Platform Manager could not connect to the device. This happens if the project type does not match the connected device or if a required file in Windows CE Services or Platform SDK is missing or corrupt ( Errorcode=0xLX). I have followed book giudance to reconfigure the plateform manager reload software etc to no effect. Can anybody help as I am now completely stumped. Thanks in advance

Make sure your device is connected, and in
activesync.. make sure you hit "Default Device"
instead of emulation....

if all else fails just make a the VB file and copy
it to your axim manually...

Thanks for your replies, turning the axim off and on had no effect. I was able to make a vb file and get it plus the associated support file into my Axim using the installation wizard, howver on trying to run the program on the axim I got the message the application you have launched requires Microsoft eMbedded Visual Baic to be installed and then points me to the file //\windows\evbruntime.htm from the web to download the file. Needless to say I have gone up and down through many searches of the MS web site and can get no reference to this file to download. This definitely seems a case of one step forward and two back. Any futher advice

The error you're talking about is a bug with MS eMbedded Visual Tools and Windows XP. I got the same message until I found the patch on Microsoft's server.

I was looking around, and I saw this... I figured it might apply since you're not from the US:

Emulation fails with German string in installation path

If you install Platform SDK (P/PC Edition 1.2) to German named folders the emulation will not work properly. When you run a eVB application on the emulator the following error message appears:

The Platform Manager could not connect to the device.

This happens if the

project type does not match the connected device,

or if a required file in

Windows CE Services, or the Platform SDK is missing or corrupt.

(ErrorCode =0xLX)
