It all depends on the season. If it is not winter then BBQ Ribs are my first choice. In winter, if I need comfort food it is home-made Onion Soup or Clam Chowder.

Also in winter I make a lot of chili and rice (with many cans of beans), but it isn't a comfort food, just an addiction.

This thread has just made me realize that I didn't have lunch yet and my tummy is empty. Must go have something bad to eat.

Hmmm....

One of two things....either a chocolate milkshake or my wife's chocolate chip cookies. You really can't beat either one.

Chips, Salsa (hot), and COLD Beer

Crank up the heat and chill the beer, throw in some ribs for desert and thats as good as it gets.

In the US it's Mongolian Chicken or Beef...

Here in Spain it's Paella...

If anyone ever gets to Spain, try the jamon...thinly sliced naturally cured ham....They actually sell the whole pig's leg - hind or front - and you put it on a small rack in your kitchen and can cut slices from it for a month or more - Depending on how big the leg is and how much you eat... http://jamoniberico.com/

Tim Horton's French Vanilla Capuccino.... so sweet and sugary it fairly peps me up.
I can't get it over here in the UK so I make do with Costa Latte with vanilla, not the same but it makes me remember a fantastic period in my life and gives me a warm glow inside.

**Sigh**
