There are those that believe that paintball is evil, that it symbolizes people shooting each other with guns. The stereotype that goes through many people's heads when they hear "paintball" is the military wanna-be freak dressed in head to toe camo who goes out "lookin for some kills." They see the marker with a trigger and a barrel and automatically assume it's there to symbolize a gun and believe that it condones violence.
There are also those who want the sale of markers banned altogether because of a**holes who find it necessary to take their markers out and shoot at people on the street or mess up people's houses, stores, mailboxes, you name it. Unfortunately it quickly becomes these people who become the face of paintball, rather than those of us who play because we love the game and enjoy the teamwork and competition.
It is a sport that has a very high level of possible negative visibility--and it is the job of those of us who love the game to protect it and to educate others as to what it's all about.
As for your claims of 30-35 bps---I'd first ask how good you were with your current marker? You may be able to spray 30 balls at me and hope that you hit me, but if I can put one ball on your boot that you leave sticking out with one shot.....you're out baby. :p The marker does not make the player.
