Yesterday life was simple. If you were a Uber user of PPC's you either had a ax or a 4705 and you were lusting for an imate or a 7500 or possibly a Shift. So you were saving your pennies, or figuring out how to get it on your expense account, or maybe you had written the check and were just waiting to find out who and where to send it to.

Then Chris had to go and.... acquire this HTC roadmap thingy and even if it is a bunch of malarky, and I say that in jest, the fact that they are even suggesting some of the specs that are listed it shows that they are reading somebodies forum, taking notes, and tossing out feelers to see what kind of responses come back.

Look it, the shangri-la, 7" screen, vista and win mobile, thumb reader, slide keyboard instead of the magnetic thing that is scratching the new ameo's, larger processor and hd, standard headphone jack, and usb host. If you search through these forums, you will see that all of these were suggested and discussed here.

HEY HTC! put a SDHC card slot (that is backward compatible) and a CF Slot (it can be a hair thicker) and we will buy it. You can skip releasing the shift and go straight to Shangri la. Just keep the price in the neighborhood of $1000.

Why the CF card slot? Because we nerd types have CF card readers and 4 and 8 G cf cards and this could possibly be the fastest way to transfer G's of info from the PC to the PC/PPC...
Also... we nerd types have music and pictures and movies on CF cards already. It would make moving from one device to another easier.

Why the SDHC slot? Because we have lots of data on SD cards.

Yes we could put it all in the hard drive... but we all love flash memory... dont we?

But this is not the root of my rant....

Now that the 7500 is out, the Shift is do out...any minute, ah... sometime this year, and the Shangri-La, is the stuff of legends as the shift is now and the 7500 was last year...

What phone do I get now?
What I really want is my MDA with built in GPS, and a bigger screen. From what I have seen of the wing, it is not the solution. It isn't worth spending $300 when my MDA still works. And when htc will have something that supercedes the wing by the end of the year.
