SMS management software
I found myself in what I think was an interesting situation last week and I would like to share it in the hope that maybe someone would come up with a better way of handling things than I did. Or at least a smoother way.
My wife is president of an organization which got together with several brother/sister organizations for there annual week long conference. Being the spouse I got drafted into organizing rides for people to and from the airport, which i dubbed Conference Airport Transportation Services (CATS) very possibly because of the 20lb Maine Coon Cat that is gazing up at me now.
In any case I started off with email, telling everyone to email me their flight info so that I can have it to begin to organize trups to the airport. I added that I wanted people to text message me when they were taking off so I would know they were leaving on time, Text me if there were any delays, or changes in plan, Text me at any layovers so i would know those were on time and finally text me when they landed so I could gage where I was in relation to them getting through baggage claim and meet them curb side.
Needless to say out of 30 trips to the airport I made about 20.
My plan actually worked pretty well but the hitches were as follows. Moving information between email and text messages. ( I have Flexmail so both were being recieved into my phone. )
Keeping track of who was sending me what. People I guess assumed that they were the only one sending me a message, but with 10 people doing that at ounce, I on more than one occasion had to write back, who is this?
And I needed a quick way of being able to txt my wife, the other drivers, and a few conference organizers. It would have also been nice to be able quickly txt, all the people who were landing at a given airport at ounce so I could let them know, I will be at this gate at this time.
Maybe I am the only one using SMS this intensely but in real life, I txt and email my wife, a general contractor , a few other sub contractors and 3 or 4 family members pretty regularly. I use txt for shorter messages and email for longer ones, to send documents or pictures and in the case of my wife, I use the one that I think she will see and respond to the quickest.
