Any Linux Experts Here ?
I know I should be looking at other websites, but this is the only one I'm a member of.
Anyway, I'm a complete novice with Linux but do have one box at work that I am trying to install VNC (Server) on so I can access from home. It is running Red Hat 6.2. When I try to rpm VNC version 3.3.3, I get the following error message:
error: failed dependencies
rpmlib(PayLoadFilesHavePrefix) <= 4.0-1 is needed by vnc-3.3.3-2.3
rpmlib(CompressedFileNames) <= 3.0.4-1 is needed by vnc-3.3.3-2.3
I know the "failed dependencies" usually means that something that is needed for the rpm to work is not installed. However, I can't figure out what is missing.
Or is this trying to tell me there is something in the rpm file that is not compatible with this version of the rpm executable?
I've also tried 3.3.7 and 4.1.2 and they give similar responses but with additonal comments about true missing apps.
Any help is appreciated . . .
