Hey folks,
does anyone know a decent screen capture software for the windows desktop? I'm using Zealsoft Super Screen Capture and it prevents my computer from restarting and is quite obtrusive overall. I just want something simple and preferably free.
Thanks!
Prnt scr for the whole screen
alt-prnt scr for active window

I was going to say Print Screen, but I think stevenator is after something a little more specialized. Vista has a nice one built in. Sorry, can't offer you anything more then that.

Hello,
I use Gadwin Printscreen, does a rectangular area you specify with your mouse, saves to file or prints to printer as a .jpg file.

There was a little prscr tool that came with a very old version of photomorph that I used to like; you could prscr copy a box section by holding shift+F11. Are you looking for something like that?
I use Gadwin Printscreen too. It works really well and if I want to make the image smaller or if I want to remove stuff, I open the image up in Microsoft Office Picture Manager and crop it or reduce the size as desired.

well, i am not quite sure that but you can try ACA Capture Pro,it is a very powerful screen capture software , it can almost capture anything on the screen, Video playing on Windows machine, no matter if it comes from a movie file, Internet, VCD or DVD, can not be captured by regular screen capture methods, because it is usually playing in a hardware overlay. The overlay it almost as if there was another, smaller screen in front of your regular Windows desktop screen. The desktop contains in that place only the so called "overlay key color" - a solid block of color, usually black, blue, magenta or pink, but it can be anything.
