Just found out from my dad that my granddad is dying now. He's only got a few days left if the doctors are right.
He's been fighting colon cancer for about 5 years now, and he's been doing pretty well, but in the last few months, he's had a tumor develop in his small intestine now, and it's really messed up his stomach. He now can't eat, he's REALLY weak, and they can't do anything about the tumor. So now, he's really dying.
If you believe in God, please pray to Him for my family. I've been REALLY close to my granddad my whole life (I'm 21 right now). This is just a really hard time for me. Any prayers are appreciated.
When my father was dying of cancer, hospice workers gave us advice that I am most thankful for--they told us to use the moments we had left to talk, reminisce, and share directly and honestly our love for him. We kept talking with and to him up until the final moments, and I remember distinctly the signs that he heard and appreciated our words. I know, too, how much it was good for those of us who were with him.
You will always treasure how close you were and are to him.

We will be thinking of you.
I actually took off work tomorrow night, so after my classes at LSU tomorrow, I'm heading to the hospital to stay from noonish to whenever I can't stay awake.
God help you, your family and your grandpa, and give him some strength. Cancer is terrible. I am sorry to hear about it, but this is life, one ends, another begins. You are young, at least you had a chance to spend time with your grandpa to this age, think about less fortunate ones. After a certain point, only think you can hope for is that he doesn't suffer.

I do believe . . . and I/we will be praying for you. It's never easy to lose someone you love, even if you know the end is drawing near. I hope his last hours are a blessing to you and to him.
