Good 'Ol Analog

I know how we are trying to phase out analog tv and even analog cable, but analog cable saved me yesterday.

For some reason, i dont know if it was b/c it was so cold or snowy or both, but my cable only seemed to have about half of its signal. I couldnt establish an internet connection, and the digital cable box would get a real blocky picture until the point where it went black. It was barely watchable, and then later in the day it just went black on all channels.

So i unhooked the coaxial cable from my cable box and put it directly into my tv, and all of a sudden i had cable back. Sure i get a lot less channels that way, but it was the only way that worked. Analog had some slight static on the screen, but it was watchable.

This just makes me feel that analog tv, whether broadcast or on cable still has some advantages over digital.

BTW, it came back on this morning, obviously. But for a good 24hrs it was out.

yep. analogue signal may be weak but its there, gotta love a carrier wave... digital if its not enough signal to differentiate the 1's from the 0's you get nothing.....

I'm so ghetto, I still have regular analogue cable. I just don't watch enough TV to justify the cost of digital.

Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on your view), in the U.S. we will HAVE to change:

Don't forget to sign up for your $40.00 x 2 voucher in 2008 because it's 1st come 1st serve and is capped at a certain value so not necessarily available to everyone

The analog broadcast signal is also being phased out in the UK (2008 - 2012). Pensioners are worried...

In my area, if you get internet and cable together its cheaper to get digital cable than it is to have analog cable only.
