Advantages and shifts

I think I will finally be able to get a some combination of a shift and or a advantage within the next month or so.

Here's my question. I have a working wizard and I like that form factor. From what I hear the advantage stinks as a phone. And I am a contractor. It would be a bit bulky. On the other hand, I am clearing my 4705 out so that I can use it on the day to day, to run my life. The advantage would will suffice as a phone and a pda.

Problem is, I want a laptop, I sorta like MS office better than anything on the PDA platform and the shift will do everything the advantage will do only bigger and better. And I am to a nice small phone.

Anybody using an advantage or a shift on a day to care to comment on how they like it?

I use the Advantage day to day but I use it for the PDA functions. While the Advantage is a great speakerphone it is not a traditional mobile phone. There is no earpiece speaker and it is to bulky to be pressing up against your head even if there was one. By bulky I mean wide not thick.

The other thing is the Advantage Keyboard. I hardly ever use it except as a stand to hold the device up on a table. The keys just aren't tactically responsive enough for enjoyable typing. Now if you got yourself the USB/A/V adaptercable and a USB keyboard to type with alsong with Something like Softmaker Suite you'd have a pretty good laptop replacement with this but straight out of the box, NO.

Also remember that whilt the Shift uses a SIM card for data it cannot make phone calls at all.

If I wasn't such an early adopter I would have just kept using My X50v and waited for the Shift to come out.

Saw a review yesterday for the Asus eee PC. Looks nice and the review gave the device a +++ for ease of use as well as portability.

Tempting and, I believe the review priced the eee PC 'tween $300-$400 USD.
Hard to beat.
