memory limit for PDAs?

Can someone explain to me why we can get an mp3 player with 4GB or more, but a WinMobile device is still limited to 256Mb? The mp3 players are so much smaller (and cheaper) that I would think the problem could not be cost or size. Does WM5 or WM6 STILL not have the ability to access more memory addresses than 256Mb?

the storage on MP3 players is usually hard disk/Flash.

You can add loads of flash to your pda (assuming you have the right slot...)

My axim now has 8GB of storage... (4+4)

sorry can't help you there.

My sony clie has got 64MB of space on a memort stick, and 15MG just the clie by it's self. That is more than I can use right now, because I can't hook the thing up to my computer to rip stuff onto it!!

It only hurt once, from beginning to end.

Peace means having a bigger stick then the other guy.

you are talking about two different things here. mp3's have storage of 4 gig. then you go on about the RAM in a PDA. go get a 32G CF card and then you got 8 times the storage of the mp3. dont like any of them then swap the CF or storage card for another. try that in your mp3 player.
they dont put any mor than the ram they do BECAUSE they have supplied a storage card slot or two... i have a 2 gig SD and a 4Gig CF seagate hdd in my 4700 but i could get more if i wanted. i also carry another 2 gig sSD card in the case with movies on it. lets face it your PDA is so much more than the MP3 thingy........
