Mad My rant about COMPUSA

So here is my long and drawn out sad story......

DD wanted a game boy advance for her birthday (on the 17th of this month) so she and her brother could hook them together and play. So last month I went on the search for them. I found a pink one at compusa.com and ordered it on the 21st. The confirmation reciept said it had been sent to a "drop shipper" and to allow 7 to 10 business days for fulfillment and shipment. Okey dokey. I happily went out and purchased the case, cord, and games. :approve:

Monday was 10 business days and it had not shipped yet. I emailed compusa and asked if I was going to be able to get this on time as it was a gift. Their automated reply said they answer emails within 48 hours. Okey dokey again. Wedneday came and went with no reply, so Thursday I made the first of four calls.

Call one: I inquired as to when this item might be shipped. He said that it was backordered and would ship on the 20th. Ok, I thought..wish they would have told me this earlier, but DD will understand if her gift is late.

Then hubby asked if they had a different color, and why don't I just get that. That seemed like an ok idea. So I called back.

Call Two: I called and gave my order number and this rep said that it had been sent to a drop shipper. I told him that the first guy told me it was backordered and would be shipped on the 20th. He told me that "drop shipper" and backordered are the same thing (I didn't know that! If I had know that I would have taken care of this three weeks ago!!) He also said there was little chance it would ship on the 20th as the first rep had told me. So I asked about other colors and he said pink was the only one avaliable ( since when does backordered=avaliable) So I asked if I could contact the drop shipper and inquire as to when, if ever, this would be avaliable. He said I could not, but compusa could if I called back between 8 and 5 EST (it was after 7 already) Okey dokey. I'll call back.

Call Three: I called this morning and spoke to a rep about calling the drop shipper. This guy told me he COULD NOT do that!!!!

By this time I'm ready to rip someone a new one. So I emailed hubby for suggestions. We decided to cancel that order and just order a DS lite from circuit city. Sure, they can't hook them together, but they can share games. So I placed the order from circuit city and place called number four to compusa.

Call Four: Take your order and shove it (ok, I was slightly nicer than that)

So, here it is, a few hours later and I'm over it. When out of nowhere a reply to Mondays email arrives.

Dear Valued Customer,

we do apologize for this issue and delay however at this time we do recommend to consider cancellation this drop ship order as the distributor appears to be having difficulty in completing this order

Gee, do you think they outsource their customer service?????

What a disgrace.

I don't know how you were so patient and polite Wendy, I'd have blown a gasket or three. I hope the DS Lite works out well.

Nice rant though!

Had a run around like that with people pc. The connection was just not working and try as they might, they just could not fix the problem. droped their service needless to say.

Another thing like this is my l.e.d. flashlight. The thing was cheap, $5, so I thought, why not? It works for about a month, perhaps a 2 months and a half, and then just dies. the light flashes, on/off button does not work. sent it back, they sent me a new one. same thing happens. send it back. I tell them that this is the second time that it has happened and that I would like my money back. (I can get a better one at Wal-Mart for $9) They don't give me my money back but give me a new flashlight. This is #3. Seeing as they will not give me my money, I'll just keep sending their lights back and getting new ones. oh, well!

It only hurt once, from beginning to end.

Peace means having a bigger stick then the other guy.

that's why they're going out of business. I was lucky and found my htc advantage recently at compusa for $540 instead of $900, but there was no way I was ordering online. I drove to madison, wi, to get it. it was worth it.

Yep, compUSA sucked big time, they had terrible management, weird pricing, and staff that was full of sh*t. I remember so many times asking something and getting an answer "check the website". Now they are out of business, closed all of their stores in NY, i got ripped off at their closing store with a game guide. They marked it down %40, next week, all game guides were %50 off at circuit city!.. Anyway, too bad they let you down like that, but it always pays to shop locally when it comes to these type of items.

Also, must avoid: Target online store.

I didn't realize they had such a bad reputation!

On an up note, I just got notification from circuit city that my order is ready to ship. Not bad considering I just placed it 3 hours ago :approve:

Comp-Useless is what we used to call it. They seldom had anything you wanted that you couldn't get cheaper somewhere else.

They closed the 3 Twin Cities stores last Spring. They always seemed to be out of stock for the good stuff in their weekly ads. Really frustrating shopping there.
