It isn't that difficult. You should just know that the disc must be positioned within a degree or so.
Lot's of people are doing it regularly when they're out camping.
I should be able to do it, last resort I will find someone to do it for me. Do you know anything about these LNB's? Will that linear/circular combo LNB for $29.99 be enough for me. With that setup, I am down to $220, which sounds just about right.

You don't need a combo LNB -
You can do with a (cheaper) liniar LNB if the data in post #3 are valid.
Make sure you have a free view to the sky westward.
I will do a site survey to see if I can have a clear view, I know there are a few apartment buildings in the area, just need to make sure they don't block my view.
Thanks again.

I'd do a bit of shopping around if you want to buy the whole system I found this one without much effort.
But I thought you already had a Dish, if that has an lnb you just need a bit of cable and a receiver.
I'm sure you can get that sort of stuff from somewhere like walmart or homedepot or some such giant crap filled store.
Ebay is another option for a cheap receiver.
In both Finland and Germany they practically give the things away.
You can pick up a basic kit including dish and receiver for less than a hundred bucks.
Wow, it keeps getting better, $188 is a great deal, including shipping, although that looks like just a generic brand.. Well as long as it works, right? You guys in Europe are so lucky. There are so many channels available to watch, including stuff others have to pay for, but you can grab off the air for free.
We have only a few channels available for us here in the states. For the rest, probably just a good old set of antennas should be enough.

It is broadcasted over the internet, but at much lower resolution, it would look pretty bad on a big screen tv. Plus, satellite has always been reliable, and more like hard-copy, where internet streaming feels light and too "digital".

Satellite TV is not really popular in USA, at least not in the populated state/cities

No, its very popular here, just not in the FTA version. Dish and Directv are very popular and very large (Directv has the most HD channels of any provider right now infact). FTA stuff has not been very popular in the states though and is declining. Last I looked, FTA satellite went from like 2 million down to around 250k in 10 years or so between 1990 and 2000!
Yeah, that's what I meant. Nobody is into customizing, adding extra dishes, buying aftermarket receivers, etc..
I am sure dish and directv are very popular in rural areas where you cannot get more reliable cable service, so you only choice is satellite. The problem with Satellite is, their HD-DVR costs way too much.

Not really, many urban places are slowly moving to satellite. Especially now with Directv having more HD than anyone else.
Directvs HD-DVRs have come down a ton too, they are now only $199, $99 for new subs. That is cheaper than the cable company in my area, plus it is only $5.99/mo with Directv for the DVR, vs. $10 with the cable company!
Frankly the service from satellite I have found much better than cable. More and more are switching as well which is a good thing. The receivers are better, the channel selections are better, and in many cases it is cheaper. The only thing I wish I had cable for is internet!
