Today only - Starbucks launches new brewed coffee

Quote:
Starbucks is hoping to put the buzz back in its business.

The coffee chain has a free coffee promotion today to launch its new "everyday" brew, in an attempt to boost sales.

Chairman and CEO Howard Schultz says Pike Place Roast has a bold flavor, smooth finish and "subtle, rich flavors of cocoa and toasted nuts."

It will be freshly roasted, hand-scooped, freshly ground and brewed in small batches that sit for no longer than 30 minutes.

Starbucks will sell the new product, in both regular and decaf, alongside rotating coffees of the week.

Wasn't that yesterday, or are different cities rolling it out on different days?

Coffee daily, too much.

I brew at home, glad when I finally leave it alone.

Yesterday, on my way back from St. Louis, I stopped at a Starbucks drive through in Springfield, Il. I received a coffee in a new, different container. I asked why they changed the cup. The nice lady responded, "we are showing the new face of Starbucks. This cup represents a new direction for us. When coffee is in this cup, with this logo, it means that it has been brewed to a more consistent, higher quality. Starbucks is going back to the basics to provide you a better experience."

I said, "I was happy with the coffee before, but whatever."

So I drove off and a couple blocks later took a sip. The coffee was lukewarm! So I drove back and exchanged the cup for a hot one. I asked, "Is this the new face of Starbucks!" We both laughed.
