Solid design mobiles?

I'm shopping for a new cell phone/smartphone and would appreciate opinions on models of solid design... meaning, they do not break down after a year of use, like most of them seem to do! If there is a specific maker that is known to produce reliable equipment, I'd love to know which one it is, as well.

Thank you.

I've owned a lot of phones over the years, of many different brands.
Every Nokia I have bought is still working, some I have passed on to friends or family, others sit in draws waiting for the time they are needed.
I still have a functioning Nokia 6110, can't even think how old that is.
I certainly can't say the same for any other brands I have had.

Nokia
Blackberry (they are pretty solid, other than a slight wear and tear it takes during first few months of usage, which beats it up into a good shape)
