Howdy y'all,

Long time, no talk. ;)

So a friend of mine is looking to upgrade his companies pen/paper/fax setup to the digital age with a handheld and a database. He works inventory.

What he's workin' with doesn't have barcodes, but I'm trying to see how open he might be to gettin' a barcode printer and going that route.

What type of device would y'all recommend? They run Windows machines at the company, so that's what the device would sync with (for database updates).

Also, anyone got a good inventory software recommendation? He says his companies probably pretty open in the price range, but let's keep the cap low enough, right? ;)

I could ask a bunch of questions, but that would just lead to further questions. It has been awhile since I worked with inventory management programs. But.....

I'd have your friend check these two programs:

Wasp Barcode Technologies
InventoryPower5

Wasp is not a cheap setup but gives you all the barcode configurations you might want. :approve:

InventoryPower5 is somewhat low end and priced much lower. But, gets you a good inventory control program. :)

These are just two that I have some familiarity. :)

You're welcome. There are a lot of programs out there today. Your friend needs to sit down and decide what functions/options he or she wants in the program. :)

The only solid recommendation I can pass along is, make sure the software is upgradable. IOW - Can it be expanded later? :approve:

Thanks, though. I was kinda hoping for people with personal opinions on hardware/software, that's why I asked. I've been perusing some searches as well. :)
