MS office on 2 computers at once

The members of this group never cease to amaze me with the depths of your knowledge so let me see if I can stump you.

I have 2 computers side by side with pretty much the same software on both of them

I am working on 5 projects. Each has it's on folder. Each project has word, excel, onenote and ms project documents, pdf's and drawings associated with it.

I sometimes will open an excel doc on one computer and then a word doc on the other and work on both, referring to each of them and changing each of them.

How/where can I store the folders so that I can readily access them from either computer and dont wind up with multiple copies of differing versions of everything everywhere?

I wanted to use office groove to make the folders available to a co-worker but I am having a hard time keeping track of where everything is.

The computers are networked through a dsl modem, and they share a printer
and one has 2 external drives, the other 3, and both can see all the external drives.

I for see a laptop joining this party before the end of the month, Is it even worth thinking about being able to seamless work with the same documents in the same folder, from the above wirelessly on the laptop?

Morning,

I do something quite similiar, for us the most effective way is to use the network drive of the machine that is always on, that way as other members of the network come and go they can access the updated files on the mainframe or master computer and know these are the lastest versions, show my date and time stamp. You could also use a removable drive attached to the master computer the same way and have the advantage of being able to take the drive or media with you if needed.

As always make lots of backups.

Ok so delete all the different extra versions/copies , keep one, stick it on a network drive and then follow back up procedures...

You may also consider using MS's SharePoint software.
