What Do I Need to Watch RCA Vid (Yellow) on a Monitor?

I am trying to rig up an extra TV using some spare parts i have left around.
I have a VCR that i dont use anymore, b/c ive upgraded to DVD, but the tuner is still good for cable tv.
I was wondering if i could use the RCA (yellow) video out connector, and somehow convert it to VGA input for a monitor. I dont care about quality, i just want something that works.

Would something like this work?

This looks like it converts VGA to RCA/Svideo, so would it work the other way?

no. i wont work mate.
the yellow video out from the VCR is COMPOSITE video..a monitor needs seperate R,G,B and Hsync and Vsync. it gets more complicated than this too ...lol
there are circuits out there

"composite to vga" circuit diagram - Google Search

or pre made boxes..

I did some research and found that out. Thanks for the reply.

It'll be cheaper and easier just to find an old TV or something.
Thanks anyway...

yep nowadays it can be very cheap for a small tv.....those boxes are quite dear and if you cant solder or build electronics a total waste of time...
besides you will get a better picture anyway....

another way would be to use an old PC with a tv out video card and a tuner card.. like a cut down home theatre pc (HTPC)...leave it on as a PVR/DVR...
