Firefox incompatible websites?

On another thread we discussed websites that do not work with Firefox. If you know of any other websites that don't work with Firefox I'd like to know about them so that I could contact the webmasters and let them know. Thanks!

Here is the original thread:
IE8 Beta

FF 3.0.1 will not load aximsite.com or mobilitysite.com for me. I get a message "Waiting for ad.doubleclick.net..." and the page just hangs. I have raised this in another thread and nobody else seems to have the same problem. So I have raised it in the FireFox Forums (yesterday), but so far I have not has any response.

I am sure that it can be sorted out but I don't know how to do it. Meanwhile it is a nuisance because FF 3.0.1 is a very good, safe and fast browser which has many very nice features which my others (IE7 and Opera) do not have including a built in spell checker.

Hi davrol

I'm not entirely sure, but I think that as.doubleclick.net may be a tracking cookie that delivers user specific adverts. If memory serves, Spybot S&D offers to delete this cookie as spyware.

It may be worth clearing your internet cache, all of your cookies (yes, I know it's a pain), and browsing history and see if it loads properly. After Martin's suggestion of Clear Type (see DotanCohen's link), I've found Firefox to be a superb browser that is far quicker than IE.

Davrol, I've been using FF as my preferred browser for some time, and I've got no problems loading Aximsite/mobilitysite with FF3.0.1. Do you have any FF add-ins that might be causing problems? For example, the Skype plugin is/was interfering with Google Maps at one point recently. If you have certain add-ins activated, you could try disabling them all and see if that makes a difference.

I also cannot confirm your bug, davrol. Can you test with a new, clean profile with no extensions?

Are there any other sites that people are having problems with? If so, please don't forget to let us know in this thread. Thanks!

Yea, you could try the safe mode feature of firefox.

EDIT: I meant safe mode. How did i manage to mistype it. Those two keys arent even next to each other.

i have also used firefox for several years now. i have no trouble with this site.

i do have several "extensions" running
colourful tabs
no script
adblock
ietabs for those sites that dont like FF.

i used to find that ebay didnt like FF2 and a few others but not many.
for those i just switch "rendering" engine.. ie. open IE in a tab with the site.
but i generally find VERY few sites that wont work.

I would really like to know which sites those are. For us Ubuntu users there is no IETab option! Thanks!

Yay, Ubuntu! As an alternative, you can open with Konqueror or other browser, but there is as yet no simple option like IETab for Linux, to my knowledge. Somebody should get to writing that. Maybe make it customizable to multiple alternative browsers (i.e. Dillo, Epiphany, Konqueror, Seamonkey, Opera, etc).

@pocketbrain: There is an extension "open with Opera" for Firefox, and I think it works in Linux.

I am most grateful to everyone who has replied to my post #2 above.

Jogga I have run Spybot S & D (fully updated) twice and it did not pick up the ad.doubleclick.net cookie. I have also gone to "Clear Private Data" and deleted everything, Cookies, Cache, Browsing History, Passwords - the whole lot. It has made no difference. I have also searched my Drive /C: for ad.doubleclick.net and deleted almost all of the entries found. Again no difference.

DotanCohen how do you run FF in the "safe mode" feature. I can't find it.

Again very many thanks for everyone's suggestions. I am sure I will gettp the bottom of this bug sooner or later but, at the moment, it is driving me nuts!
FF 3.0.1 is such a very nice browser I would love to be able to use it properly.

You'll find safe mode in the same folder as Mozilla Firefox.

Go to your start button and find the Firefox folder and open that, you should have the standard browser and the safe mode all in one place.
