Stream a Monitor on the Local Network

I work in a small store thats spread out over three floors. We have a computer that is hooked to a surveillance system with cameras throughout the store. Since it shows all of the store's cameras on the screen, its nice to look at to see if there are any customers waiting to be cashed out when your on another floor. But, the monitor is on the main floor, and it would be nice to see the cameras on another floor.

So i was wondering if there is software out there that can stream the monitor image, which shows all of the cameras, to the other cash register computers in the store so no matter where you are you know what is going on. Maybe a stream that you can open up in a media player. I know i could just run vga wire, but that would be costly, and a pain since this building is about 100 years old and running any wiring is nearly impossible.

All of our systems are hooked to a local network on a router and all run xp pro. There must be something that can do this. The key thing is streaming to local network only. I dont want it to slow up the internet by having a constant upload going. Even though there would still be an upload, it would only be on the local network, so it shouldnt be as bad, right? It would save all of us a lot of time, instead of always going downstairs to see if somebody needs help/waiting to be cashed out.

VideoLAN looks like the solution.

I would call a local alarm/video expert in your location, Nowhere, NY.
